Armada Shipping is established as an operator in the dry cargo segment

1991

The owners of Armada Shipping part ways. Torben G. Jensen continues to operate under the name Clipper

1992

  • Clipper orders the company’s first two bulk carriers newbuildings, thus moving from operator related activities towards ship owner status
  • Clipper Pacific carries 2,800mt steel beams from Brake to Houston, entering the steel liner business

1997

  • Clipper Group (Management) Ltd. is established in Nassau, The Bahamas
  • Clipper acquires a major shareholding in Crescent, a company focusing on the tank and ferry segments

1998

Clipper's headquarters are relocated from Switzerland to The Bahamas

1999

Clipper Elite Carriers (CEC) is established, entering the multi-purpose/heavy-lift segment

2000

Clipper establishes VOC/VOC Steel Services in Rotterdam with VOPAK and Fortis Bank

2001

  • Clipper Bulk (UK) Ltd. is established, focusing on the panamax segment
  • Clipper acquires Panamerican Tankers (US) Inc., a chemical products’ transportation company

2002

  • Clipper invests further in the tanker segment and enters the ro-ro segment by acquiring ownership in Seatruck Ferries

2003

  • Clipper acquires Lasco Shipping, specialized in steel transport
  • Clipper gains full control of VOC/VOC Steel Services

2004

Clipper establishes Van-Clipper with Vanship and acquires four VLCC vessels (Very Large Crude Carriers)

2005

  • After further acquisitions in the tanker segment, Clipper consolidates all its tanker activities into Clipper Wonsild Tankers
  • Clipper Bulk (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. is established
  • Clipper enters the passenger vessel segment by acquiring two luxury cruise vessels

2007

Clipper expands with further investments in the cruise sector and Danish ferry services

2008

  • Clipper Elite Carriers is renamed Clipper Projects, and Clipper Wonsild Tankers is renamed Clipper Tankers
  • Clipper Projects opens an office in Italy

2009

Clipper Projects announces new offices in Singapore, Brazil, China and United Arab Emirates.

2010

  • Clipper becomes the largest shareholder in Nordic Tankers, a publicly listed company controlling close to 130 chemical and product tankers
  • Frank G. Jensen takes over as Chairman of the Board of Clipper Group Ltd., the group's holding company, and Chairman of the Board of Clipper Group A/S, Copenhagen. Torben G. Jensen continues as a member of the board of directors of Clipper Group Ltd. and of Clipper Group A/S

2011

  • Clipper Bulk opens office in São Paulo, Brazil
  • Clipper takes delivery of the first of the group of sister vessels, 38,000 dwt bulk carrier, ‘Clipper Bari-Star’, a next generation cutting-edge design

2012

  • Clipper celebrates its 40-years anniversary on October 1st
  • Clipper Projects opens an office in Mumbai
  • Clipper Projects heads a new MPP pool with two partners
  • Clipper Steel Services celebrates its 20th anniversary with a record year with more than 70 sailings from Europe to USA/Mexico

2013

  • Clipper Projects merges with Thorco Shipping and continues under the Thorco name. Clipper keeps all owned and time chartered vessels, but they are managed commercially by the merged company
  • Clipper Bulk takes delivery of the first I-Star supramax newbuilding, a 61,000 dwt eco bulk carrier
  • Clipper Bulk establishes a new commercial pool for modern bulk carriers fitted for logs trading
  • All vessels in technical management by Clipper Fleet Management are ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 50001 (energy) certified
  • Clipper sells off the VLCCs and a number of cruise vessels and tankers

2014

  • Clipper takes delivery of the Clipper Bliss, the forth “Bari-Star” type handysize, and the Clipper Excelsior, the second in a series of ultra large supramax vessels
  • Clipper introduces COACH, a leading vessel performance monitoring system to the market
  • Clipper Steel Services has a record year in the steel liner business, transporting no less than 2.7 million metric tonnes of steel cargo
  • Seatruck Ferries, a fully owned subsidiary of Clipper Group, is voted Irish Sea Shipping Line of the Year for the second year in succession

2015

  • Clipper expands its activities within pool management, now counting 5 pools and nearly 60 vessels
  • CMF manages no less than 14 dry dockings, preparing for the ballast water treatment and Sulphur emission control requirements
  • Clipper Steel Services celebrates the first anniversary of their third steel liner services from Alabama to Mexico
  • Clipper sells its last fully owned chemical tanker
     

2016

  • Clipper pools continue growing
  • Seatruck celebrates 20 years on the Irish Sea and adds capacity on the Dublin-Heysham and Liverpool-Dublin routes

2017

  • Clipper Steel Services adds a second vessel to meet the growth on the express service from Alabama to Mexico
  • Clipper opens an office in Hong Kong to expand Pacific presence
