Tackling climate change together
COACH has joined navigatingresponsibly.dk
Clipper’s vessel performance monitoring solution COACH has joined a group of front runners in shipping to tackle climate change together.
As environmental issues become increasingly important, the Danish Shipowners’ Association is working to maintain Denmark’s world-class reputation as a fuel-efficient and reliable shipping nation. Their newly launched site navigatingresponsibly.dk promotes industry solutions to environmental challenges. One of the five topics is Climate. When close to 90 percent of goods worldwide are transported by sea, our industry obviously has an impact on CO2 levels and the climate – despite shipping being the most energy efficient mode of mass transport.
The Danish Shipowners’ Association has been collecting fuel consumption data from its members since 2008. Danish shipping companies have kept their CO2-emissions constant despite a significant increase in the size of the Danish fleet. This has been possible because of sustained focus on identifying measures to improve efficiency. COACH is proud to have been selected as a best-practice example for using data to improve vessel performance and optimization at sea.
COACH is currently installed on more than 325 vessels worldwide, serving around 20 ship owners and operators. Find out more at navigatingresponsibly.dk and coach-solutions.dk.
COACH is a vessel performance monitoring system that provides the ship operator with voyage observation and analysis on hull, propeller and engine efficiencies. The reporting and communication is kept simple with unified noon reporting and energy deviation alerts from the vessels. COACH can contribute to optimizing the fleet portfolio by identifying fuel-efficient designs and over-consuming vessels.
